Road trips for my wife and I usually consist of a lot of finger/snack foods and a giant Coke/Pepsi for me. Oh and I always check the oil
Before leaving

 

Being an Albertan who travels to b.c. alot, beer and other liquor is high on the list. prices are much more in b.c. with the extra taxes and all. Beyond that it the usual fluid and tire checks. Usually pack a quart of oil and coolant for longer trips. I keep a small box all times with tow strap, jumpers, gloves & hat, and workplace first aid kit. I just add to it before longer (ad)ventures, it all depends if its a day weekend or week how much i bring.
Little tip for you campers:
1. Clean out a plastic milk jug or pop bottle.
2. (almost) fill it with clean water and freeze it a couple days in advance.
3. Bamm! Free ice block for your cooler, make as meany as you need and they last longer than cubed ice.
The best part, your food will stay dry and by the end of the trip you have ice cold drinking water instead of dumping it all out.

 

Depends on the road trip...pack appropriately. Better to have and not need then to need and not have.

I had a TJ inbetween Blazers and they don't pack so well for a week long trip for two in the backwoods.

Besides fluids, check and grease ball joints and uj's, brakes, your spare tire, and any other points of interest that may possibly fail on you while out playing.
