Exclamation Random question.

Right now I'm debating selling my blazer because of its absolutely horrible 12mpg I keep getting its killing me. I just wanted to know in your opinion how much you guys think I could get for it? 2000 Blazer 4DR 4X4 LT with 60k miles on it. Any input is helpful I mean its reliable as hell its just I need a commuter car. I'm 17 I drive freaking every where need something that gets a little better gas mileage but I am just torn between this because I love my blazer and would love to drive it until it dies on me but I need something that gets decent mpg. Right now I am leaning towards keeping it... Just want some input on the price in case I change my mind.

Thanks in advance.
Kai :P

why not search for gas milage improving things around here like maf cleaning, egr cleaning, clean (or better yet, after market) air filter, tire pressure, tune ups, cutting weight, cutting aerodynaimc inhibitors (like roof rack), running better gas, running seafoam, cleaning you TB, cleaning you tps, running HT tires instead of AT's, losing the tow hitch and grille guard, staying out of the gas coming out of stops, changing old and worn fluids, and limiting your stop-and-go driving...

maybe check the search funtion.

to answer your question I paid $1800 for my 2000 4x4x4dr with 163k miles in 2008. results not typical.

Eh I have looked into all that cleaning and stuff I'm sure it all adds up in the end but I just don't think it would have great results.. If I still have it in the near future (which I am planning to cause I keep having second thoughts on getting rid of it) I will probably do some of those things.

Is 12 mpg average for these trucks? I have a '96 four door 4x4 and I get about 22 mpg... My fuel gauge doesnt work so I go by the mileage on my odo to know when to get gas and i get about 220 miles to a tank (10 gallons).
Have you tried changing the fuel filter? A couple months ago I started hearing my fuel pump whining so I changed out the filter to see if it would help and I picked up 4 mpg...

I also paid $2500 for my truck and everything worked besides the fuel gauge if it helps to judge the value of your truck
Good luck on the sale if you do decide to sell it

Do a complete tune up, you have something wrong if you're only getting 12 mpg's IMO.

Fuel Filter, Plugs, Wires, Distributor... use all AC Delco parts and you'll be laughing.

Already did that oktain... Fuel filter just got replaced maybe a month ago and tune up was in the late summer. I don't drive it like its a race car either. Well I'm not sure if it cause its winter also. Our '99 taraus was getting 12 also.. In summer I was getting 14 or 15 and I don't let my truck heat up THAT long... 5 mins but that might be just enough to kill the mpg some..

no need to let your vehicle warm up that long. if it's WICKED f-ing cold out side (big negatives) use a block or pan heater. under normal conditions it shouldn't take too long (like 30 seconds really) to get the oil circulating.

idle is the worst fuel economy you can get...
