so, we were going to sell our iphone 5, we met the guy (looked about 14, had no idea he was that young before hand). Asks about the phone then quickly reaches in and grabs it then takes off through a yard. I promptly chased him through a strangers back yard, in my celica.... If only the tree line was a little further away, I'd still have my gf's phone and one future piece of crap would be off the street

 

Man that sucks!!! I have heard about people doing this scam frequently on CL. Anytime I meet someone to do a deal like this I make sure I have my 45 strapped right on my side in open view of everyone just as a deterent (spelling?) for potential thieves. Must be working cause no one has tried anything on me yet. I would hate to see what I would do to someone if this were to happen to me though!

I dont really like to go meet up with people for sales of stuff. I would rather they come to my place to buy, or I go there to buy.

Ive even had women that I wanted to buy furniture items off show them my ID before they allowed me in to buy the stuff or check it out. I didnt have a problem with that though.

 

depending on the value depends on my level of security
I always make sure if meeting at home that the garage door is closed and what ever I am selling is outside

 

Must be working cause no one has tried anything on me yet.
