Beyond what this means in Mass, it has put EVERY democrat on alert as they all have to face re-election this coming Nov. The Dems had owned the House until now, which meant they could push anything through that they and/or Obama wanted onto the American public.

I watched NightLine tonight on ABC with George Stephanopoulos interviewing Obama and was somewhat presently surprised, as he was a senior politcal advisor in the Clinton administration. He asked very pointed questions as to the failure of Mass to elect another Dem Senator, his role in the election, his failure of getting his "policies" across to the American public, etc.

To my great elation, Obama performed as expected. Without a written speech in front of him, he fumbled the ball more than Tony Romo in a playoff game. I've only met two people that have admitted voting for him and both are ashamed they did. If others that had voted for him, and aren't already ashamed, they would be after seeing this interview.

I believe this may be the turn that this country has been needing.

I agree, but I caution repubs, most people didn't like what was happening under the repub majority either. In my view this was a statement from the independants, people with comon sense and values. Infact I don't want to see a majority of either party infact there ought to be a three party system ie independants/ liberterians. Government needs to become smaller not bigger.

Both very good comments and both very true. My take on it was this wasn't a victory against democrats or republicans, it was a victory against progressives. The progressives who infest both parties are the real threats against liberty. Those who want big government and support FDR's second bill of rights.
On another note, I can't believe that Setphy hard-balled his idol, it must be retribution for that interview a while ago where Obama smacked him down for a tough question. That said, none of the radicals in office right now will set down and take their tongue-lashings that THEY have earned. Look at all of the congressmen who refuse to have town halls because "those are just a bunch of cooks." Just keep on calling your constituents that and see how long you stay in office.
Finally, there ought to be no parties, just as Washington warned us -- the parties do nothing but create straight party voters, animosity between the groups and corruption & kickbacks. I for one am tired of the only choice being the boob with the most campaign $$.

Regards,

Thomas
