What engine / transmission combo could i put into a 79 malibu?

What engine / transmission combo could i put into a 79 malibu?

I am looking for something with a little bit more power than the stock engine, but I am also trying to spend as little as possible. I currently have a 3.3L V6 with a 3 - speed manual transmission.

couldnt you use a 454, 350, or a 305

those are the engines i would go with, but then again its up to you, as for tranny idk maybe a turbo 350

there are plenty of 350's and are cheap, and plenty of 350 turbo trannys
