The five speed trucks came with a cast iron front diff, those can handle a locker from what I've read. That's what I'm hoping to find someday

I didn't care for the front skid plate that came with the rc kit. Sure, it's 1/8" steel, which is nice, but I didn't like how it left the oil filter hanging out. I put the stock composite back on. Did like the one that went under the diff, just wish it went all the way across and covered the axle tube as well.

I have a buddy with a welder, who has offered to fab me up some skids, hopefully we can get going to that soon

I just wanted to say welcome aboard. Another soul braver than I to tackle the beef it up challenge. To think I just want to get my boat in and out of the lake.
