Default 2000 LT 4x4

Just picked it up for $2500, definitely over paid imo - just finished replacing most off the broken interior parts etc

most known service items were taken care of before I got it

nothing transmission done to it, already got a p1870 while on highway, cleared and has not come back yet and it still isn’t slipping but definitely excited to get a second tranny going !

Looks like a nice Blazer. Do you have the 4-button transfer case?

Nice. I've really liked my 99 LT. I use the auto 4wd feature here in North Idaho in the winter. It is a nice feature. I kind of lucked out when I got mine as I was not aware of all the different options with these. Since I use mine for towing and going off-pavement, along with living in snow country, the low ratio axles, auto 4wd and locking rear end have been great for me.

It sounds like it was well taken care of too. Be sure to look for the thread that lists the common issues with these trucks. I've had mine for over 10 years and have addressed all the big ones. I figure as long as the electronics and engine keep running, I should be good for many years to come.

Whereas most of the issues with Blazers are fixable, there are two big ticket items on the mechanical side that are worth learning about.

The first is one that I paid for; towing with my transmission in overdrive. I allowed my transmission to overheat and some of the seals failed allowing trans fluid to ruin the 3/4 clutch plates which then slipped. The transmission rebuild cost over $2,500. I have also since installed an oversized radiator and extra trans oil cooler.

The second is the possible failure of lower intake manifold (LIM) gaskets. This can happen suddenly and catastrophically. The gaskets can fail allowing coolant to rush into the lifter valley of the engine which then gets pumped through the engine ruining all of the bearings. As soon as I learned of this I planned the replacement.

Welcome to the forum and be sure to ask questions!

yes he did mention the lower intake gasket, that was one of my first concerns with getting one, I looked at a couple before settling on this one

thanks for the info on the transmission, I will plan on getting a trans cooler

Looks like a pretty nice rig. If it's in decent condition (and, based on your location, I wouldn't expect it to have any rust), I don't think you overpaid at all. It's actually a pretty good deal.

Like Christine said, make sure the typical issues are handled, and it should serve you well for a long time.

For the price you paid, and the condition I see, if there is nothing hidden, I would've paid the same. They are going for about the same in way worst condition with really high km where I am.

I paid $2,800 USD (3,800 CDN) for a 98 LT Jimmy with 160,000 miles (260,000 km). Mine looks to be in similar condition as yours.

I paid $450 for my 2000 4-door LT with 290k miles, but it was a piece of crap that didn't run.
