First 4x4
Well, i finally made it here, i guess it is only a matter of time after you get a Blazer that you reg here. Anyway, you will be seeing a lot of me. I am almost cluless when it comes to "shop talk", but I want to learn my new toy inside and out. Here is what i got. 97 4 door 3.2 vortec. she has 290k on her, and needs a little bit of love. I picked it up for $500 bucks, and all i was told that was wrong with it was
1. a broked shifter(it was just hanging by a cable)
2. gas line was leaking, but buddy taped it back together
3. exhaust was loud.
4. abs light was on
5. battery wouldnt hold(he said after a couple days he would have to jump it, newer battery)
Thats all he said. The body is mint, no rust at all, has a hitch, she is gm green, so I thought 500, sound good to me.
Well, I got her home, and this is my first 4x4, so I wanted to test it out. I live in a new survey, so we have lots and lots of mud in the emply lots beside and behind me. The truck is unplated for now, but i took her through a "puddle" and immediatly realized that just the back was spinning. Crap.
The next day I want to a wrecker and pulled the shifter off a jimmy, 3 bolts and 2 wires, put it in in 5 minutes. Thats solved.
Now time to look at the 4 wheel drive....anyway, I will continue this post where it is supposed to be. Anyway, thanks for having a forum like this, and I apologise in advance for all my "un-educated" questions. Mike.
