Default Going from 4 to 2 shocks in the front

I am replacing the shocks from old Ranchos to Beilstein 5100s. I currently have two shocks on each side of the front. I see in this form that people recommend that I just go with one shock on each side. Do I need to switch out the mounts or can I just use one of the mounts and leave the other one open? Looks like I’m gonna have to make some replacements anyway, as one of my lower amounts are broke. Thanks for any advice!

Oof. That sucks! Hope you're able to fix it without too much trouble.

If you're a decent welder, that should be a pretty easy repair. If you want to upgrade, you could even cut those mounts off and get some new heavy-duty ones to weld on,
