Thumbs up How you all doing

Just joined. Picked up my first 1999 Chevy blazer a couple of weeks ago and wanted to find out what go’s on with them. Had 2006 Suburban previous to this so quite a few similarities. It needs a bit of work. Made the mistake of looking it over in the dark and missed a few coverups. Live in the mountains north of Malaga in southern spain so spares are hard to come by for Chevys. Looking to get it back to its former glory with maybe a few extras...looking forward to chatting to you all..any other Irish Blazer owners on here by chance ?.??

Welcome. This is the place to be to keep your Blazer on the road.

There are a few common ailments for Blazers of our (1999) generation. Some of these are:
  • Leaking remote oil filter lines
  • Lower intake manifold (LIM) gaskets that can leak coolant directly to the lifter valley (this can ruin in engine in only a few minutes!)
  • Loose idler arm
  • Front wheel hubs that go bad
  • Leaks in the engine compartment vacuum hoses that will affect the operation of the HVAC system and the front axle engagement
  • Fuel injection spiders that leak

Hi Christine _208
that sounds like a lot. What mileage are we looking at for these thing to start appearing I’m just coming up to 105,000 miles on mine. Need new catalytic converter the transmission needs looking at and the housing around the air conditioning is cracked so let’s in a lot of hot air but otherwise it’s not a bad little car. Nothing rusts here so body in really good shape. Plastics are all a bit lose so lot of squeaking on dirt roads. Any picks of yours on here, looks like you have done all the things I want to do to mine.

Are the doors sagging like a 80 year old grandma? That's a common problem. Mine was so bad that my jambs had to be rewelded.
