Looking at Blazers
#11
Welcome! If you purchase this blazer, make sure to change the diff fluids. You never know if the previous owner/owners ever done this. Also check the oil lines going to the oil filter, they are known to leak.

I always take vehicles I'm considering buying to my favorite mechanic. It costs about 75 bucks but I've always gotten good feedback from him and peace of mind. He's pointed out problems that have changed my mind about buying vehicles. He's the professional and I can trust him. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Well I went and took it out for a test drive. It's a "Certified" vehicle so I feel better about the mechanical stability of it, but holds no warranty except a 30 day/3000 mile deal. Transmission feels good, didn't detect any leaks, AC is cold, heat is VERY hot, and 4x4 engages. Brakes feel good and the serpentine belt looks brand new.
I put a deposit down on it, but I'm waiting to get the financing dealt with. Hopefully it all goes through and I'll have it tomorrow!

Another warm welcome from the land of the "Right Hand Drives".
Hope it all works out for you, good luck.

Ugh this dealer is a pain to work with. First the financing was approved, then it wasn't. Now I need a letter from work proving I'm employed x number of hours on average per year. I've had money down on this truck since Monday and I still don't have it in my garage. Very frustrating! Hopefully if all goes well I will have it tomorrow.
These Blazers better be worth all this frustration!

welcome to the show.
sounds like this dealer is yankin' your chain there.
and just because the truck is sold "certified" doesn't mean that you should take it @ their word, have someone you know (& trust) inspect it as well.
since there are minimum limits for safety standards, it may pass a safety now, but 3 or 4 months down the road, you may find out that your brakes are completely shot, and if you're paying a mechanic to do it, it can get pricey-FAST!
had the exact same thing happen to me with my first car, the day before my sister-in-law's wedding. $580 brake job on a car that was certified 4 months before then, and when you're in HS, that's a hefty bill to deal with unexpectantly.
just be sure what you're getting into, and seriously fight the urge that, "i've gotta have this one!". it'll pay off (hopefully) in the long run, if you buy with your head, and not your eyes.

Sounds like the dealer either got a better trade or offer from someone else and is trying to get rid of you, happened to me several times. Dealers ,at least around here are low life scum, so now I only deal privately.
Enough of that welcome to the forum and best of luck with your purchase from Pa.

Well I finally have the truck! I -love- it so far. But yes, they were definitely trying to get rid of me. I'll be speaking to the VP on Monday about all the stuff I had to go through. I'll post pictures up tomorrow but unfortunately they did a crappy job of detailing - it has water spots all over it!
But anyway, I'm very impressed with it so far. Not quite as many nice features as my Acura, but it handles really well, shifts like a dream, and I even have a warranty on it.
