Hello everyone, not new to the community but I figure I would introduce myself formally today. I am a proud owner of a 2002 Blazer LS 2 door 4.3L 4x4. As a child I always dreamed of owning a Blazer but never actually got around to buying one. As faith would have it, My father stumbled upon a bargain around 2016. I won't forget the day I first saw the truck. It was like the scene in back to the future when Marty sees the Toyota parked in the Garage. My father did not say it was for me, but I knew I wouldn't get another chance in owning one quite like this one.
There is stood a Pewter Silver Blazer clean as a whistle. With only 45k original miles, and one previous owner its was hard not to pant at its luscious curves and sporty look. It was all original, not a single modification or repair. Not even 2 months later, the truck sat in my father's garage as he contemplated flipping or keeping the truck for himself. In turn, I had a series of bad luck streaks with my then current cars. A 2009 Mercury Sable & 2001 Ford Ranger. First the Sable went out in a catastrophic internal engine failure. Was getting up to speed on the on ramp while commuting back home when the engine made the nastiest metal clashing sound I had ever heard. RIP Sable. A month later The ranger got a check engine 1 month out of my mandatory emission test. Needless to say I was in a bind when I learned the Ranger had a blown head gasket. Accepting the truck was 280k miles and had a laundry list of things to repair, I had to make the tough decision to cut the cord. These events in such short period of time put me in finical stressful situation. My parents must have known I needed a leg up. I had just bought a fixer-upper home and was pouring all my earnings in trying to fix to move in.
That brings us back to the Blazer. The day after I sold my ranger to the junkyard my father hands me the keys, and tells me to take the Blazer meanwhile I get my car situation resolve. I was excited to take that puppy, but at the same time I felt crappy for putting my dad in that situation. I must say the first ride with the blazer was memorable. I called my buddy and we went on a test drive. The reason I say it was memorable was, because I had jinxed myself and said it was nice to own a clean newish car. On that same ride a teenage girl nearly wrecked her car on the blazer as she inevitably pulled in front of me leaving the parking lot the Hot Dog restaurant we were going to stop at. That was a close call. I did get another Ranger, but my father must have noticed the smile the truck brought to my face and handed me the title and spare key. Fast-forward to today and I nearly doubled the mileage and the truck is beginning to show the tell-tell signs of the problems these trucks are famous for. Hence, my reason for becoming a more active member here. The only thing I had done to the truck in 25k miles I drove it was thermostat with new radiator as it had a hairline crack near top, alternator with battery belt tensioner pully and all four brake calipers and pads. Until now my first major repair. Brake line replace! New post on these coming soon.
Yeah all in all the truck is not exactly the exact model I wanted as a kid, but I'm not complaining. It's the color and style I want and I can always convert it to zr2 package. Which I intend to do soon. The only other thing I wish the truck had was remote keyless entry. But thats my long silly story guys. You guys have any questions, let me know. Until then keep on blazing!!
