New guy saying hi
Just joined up today while I was researching some electrical fixes for my new to me 89 k5 5.7TBI/700r4. Its a southern beach truck, so its got some body rot and the like, and it came with a cracked head which is now all taken care of. Strangely, everything worked when i bought it! I mean, gas gage, rear and side windows, speedo, heater/AC, stuff you never expect to still work on these old chevy's. It's my first k5, but one of many in a long line of chevys (currently: 01 sliverado, 05 silverado JGP. FOrmerly 99 silverado, 76 cheyenne, 76 k10 with a 383 stroker and 3/4 ton axles, 71 on 40s, 77 impala, sure I am forgetting some) and I haven't got much done to it yet, but I anticipate some leaf packs and 35s, 3:73s and e-lockers, rebuild on the tranny (beef her up a bit) a winch and bumpers and of course fixing the fenders, rocker panels, all the seals etc as well as shoot some black paint on it. If I get real ambitios I have a 350 out of an old vette that is getting new heads, accessories and a supercharger that might wind up in this truck, but we'll see.
In any case, from browsing around here I have liked the site and it seems super helpful. I look forward to talking to everyone and getting to know everyone's rigs while I get mine working.

Also new to site, but quite familiar with chevy line, currently have a 2001 s10 pick up, and had a 1991 Suburban I had alot of fun moding. My new to me '79 k5 was also a beach rig lots of rot as well as alot of areas with the first signs of rust. I'm a alittle overwhelmed with trying to figure out how to get all of it cleaned before it really sets in. At any rate, should be a good project to keep me busy, and its nice to be able to talk with people who have delt with the same issues on the same rigs.
