I have a 1987 s-10 blazer that I have owned since new. It has 100 K miles and has never been wrecked and garaged always and serviced religiously. The 2.8 L v-6 stock is gutless as most of you know. it was suggested that I drop a 4.3 L engine in place of the existing one; I have someone who will buy the 2.8 L. What are the complications in swapping out the engines???

Welcome to the forum, i agree search for it,
but if memory is working for me - to swap the engine you'd have to take the 4.3L out and the transmission and transfer case it had plus drive shafts to swap into the other one. You'd also have to swap engine electronics (computer) and i think mounts, it has been a while since i did that over 10 years ago with a buddys blazer.
