Default Suggestions for a New Guy

I'm relatively new at off roading. I have taken my stock 2000 blazer out and it does really well. I am just looking to see what people recomend for a vehicle thats also going to be my daily driver. I'm looking for a happy medium between off roading and every day driving. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

2wd or 4wd? If its 4wd I'd suggest using 4lo and 4hi at least once a month to keep the transfer case lubed up. Only other suggestion I have is that if you're going kidding often I'd try to wash the transfer case off monthly to keep it functional. Other than that it's pretty much your call.

It's 4wd. I was looking more for any upgrades or modifications that wouldn't involve too much of it being more of a off road vehicle, because like I said, it's still my daily driver

Well a few things i am doing is adding.

An aftermarket tranny cooler, so the tranny doesn't heat up when towing or offroading.
Going to 30x9.5 r15 tires. You don't need a lift as to what i am reading on the forum.
Adding a bull bar in the future to help protect my front end.
Adding a roof rack to put my spare up in and clean up the underneath.

Know as this will be your daily driver as mine is, I put all synthetic fluid in the differentials and oil. Plus changed the tranny fluid and transfer case fluid. Tip if you have the 4 button 4wd (auto 4wd option) you have to use the factory fluid from the dealership for the transfer case. As always when you go wheeling clean up the undercarriage really well to prevent rust and keep your linkage and actuators and all clean and working right.

Oh and make sure to have a clean and properly working cooling system. I thought my coolant looked clean and was great but i flushed my coolant anyways and there turned out to be alot of gunk in it. That can keep you from cooling properly and you don't want to overheat or blow a line while out anywhere.

Some simple things for off road performance are:

Front sway bar quick disconnects, used to unlatch the sway bar from the frame to give you better IFS performance when off road, but still giving enough control of your vehicle when on the road.

Removing the rear sway bar, I ran with mine removed the entire time I had it and never noticed anything until I left the front off one day.

Off road lights, if you're into that kinda thing (I was. )

The most important would probably be tires, ATs at least, MTs if you really want traction (at the expense of shorter life and more noise on the road.)

Well i went with the 255/70/15 Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires. They are 29.1 inch tall and 10.04 inches wide. They are nice and do really good on and off the road. I also got the secondary tranny cooler in because i got bigger tires. I have pics in my garage if you want to take a look. Have you done anything to your Blazer yet?
