My various off-road adventures

I went wheeling this weekend...that is to say, my wife went wheeling and I rode. We ended up breaking the front drive on her transfer case. (Video lower in this post) But we still had a blast. Apparently our little blazers are fairly capable in 2wd Low as well. :icon_teeth:

Here are some stuffs:

Looked like major fun, minus the damage.:icon_teeth: I am jealous!

Benedict1337 05-23-2010 11:33 PM

very cool. except for the broken stuff...

BlaziNator 05-23-2010 11:38 PM

Meh, you win some you lose some. Now I just have to find a new transfer case to pop in there. Strange that it went out when it did. I have done plenty worse to my Blazer without problems.

butters 05-26-2010 07:27 PM

looking great man lovin the blazer

shligger 05-27-2010 06:52 PM

Why didn't the rear tires spin when you were trying to go up that rock/hill structure? It was in 4x4 because the front wheels spun but the backs seemed locked.

BlaziNator 05-27-2010 07:06 PM

The left rear was spinning.

AJBert 05-27-2010 07:57 PM

Hmmm...

I've seen these videos elsewhere...

Great time and looks like it is past time for a locker in the rear!

BlaziNator 07-06-2010 10:07 PM

Well...this adventure wasn't mine, and it doesn't involve a Blazer...but it does involve a ZR2 and my brother. =D

You remember my brother's truck guys? Looks like this:
http://i578.photobucket.com/albums/s...a/IMG_6503.jpg

Well...he went wheeling this past weekend at Barnwell Mountain near Gilmer, TX. He brought back a few beauty marks I am jealous of...

http://i729.photobucket.com/albums/w...f/100_0245.jpg

He was upset about the mirror at first...but then he discovered the electric motor still worked as well as the heater! XD Anyway...thought I'd share. Enjoy!

DKSDAD 07-06-2010 10:22 PM

Ouch, I'm thinking exo-cage.

Benedict1337 07-07-2010 12:14 AM

I'm worried that is going to happen to me one of these days...

BlaziNator 07-07-2010 12:28 AM

Worried!?!?! That'd be bad-ass. XD

Nothing quite as beautiful as a trail scar hard-won.

Benedict1337 07-07-2010 01:31 PM

most of my friends would probably make fun of it even more. it already has the nickname "****mobile" idk why it looks good shined up

Sisk 07-07-2010 01:33 PM

Damn that looks fun. Sucks about the damage, but it's just a battle scar. I've got quite a few on my truck already and I haven't even gone offroading much.

What kind of bumper is that? and where can i find one ?

Benedict1337 07-08-2010 12:00 AM

he made it himself. I think he said he was making them and selling them if you want to get your hands on one. I know I do...

BlaziNator 07-08-2010 12:31 AM

Yeah...we were. But now he is headed to China for at least a year. He was the expert welder so...we may have to take a break. =/

Benedict1337 07-08-2010 07:39 AM

lol gives me time to save up

BlaziNator 07-08-2010 01:17 PM

Deal. I've had to turn down 2 orders already. =/

My brother and his crazy schemes....

Benedict1337 07-08-2010 02:43 PM

lol. your brother defiantly has the coolest zr2 pickup plus its classy because its a gmc haha

MikeRo 07-08-2010 09:47 PM

Put me on that wait list for the bumper, i'll be saving up

BlaziNator 07-11-2010 02:11 AM

Great news! Upon further investigation, it turns out that my wife only broke her front drive shaft, not her transfer case...more to come. =D

old skool luvr 07-11-2010 11:04 PM

^^^ that is great news!

1sexyblzr 07-12-2010 09:18 AM

beautiful ZR2 it sucks about the damage :-(

pj5454302 07-18-2010 01:19 PM

Every time i see a pic of your brothers truck it makes mine look worse. I need to inject some more badassnes into my truck so it as cool as his.

BlaziNator 07-18-2010 08:00 PM

Haha, I'm going to have that thing sitting in my driveway for a year, I suspect my Blazers will feel inadequate sitting next to it all night. XD

BlaziNator 07-28-2010 07:37 PM

Finally got around to replacing my wife's drive shaft today:

http://i578.photobucket.com/albums/s...K/IMG_7210.jpg

Nummy! =D

pj5454302 07-28-2010 09:01 PM

I know how you feel, broke my passenger side cv joint halfshaft on a wheeling trip this weekend. And needless to say replacing it was "fun".

BlaziNator 07-28-2010 09:05 PM

Lol, the drive shaft wasn't too bad really. Pressing the old U-joint out was TERRIBLE though. The 1995 Blazers were built with the flange style CV axles. ;)

Lucky me. =D

MikeRo 12-25-2011 11:30 PM

Revival haha, just stumble back to this thread. So you guys making bumpers again yet?

wheninromeSDS 12-26-2011 12:54 AM

If you're making those bumpers, or your brother, I'll buy one.

BlaziNator 12-26-2011 03:17 AM

Nope, not for a few more years at least. My brother is still out of the country, and there are still no blueprints. lol.

wheninromeSDS 12-27-2011 12:25 PM

*Sigh* well what am I going to do now!

I guess I'm going to try to make my own. Lol

Lol, let me know how it goes. That's what we did. Looked around, ran out of options, and started cutting and welding. :icon_bunny:

CraigSnedeker 12-27-2011 04:32 PM

I don't want to think what would happen if I made my own, lol.

Benedict1337 12-28-2011 12:20 AM

go to a local auto welder and give them an idea of what you want and they could probably fab you up one if you don't have the know how or the equipment. would probably be cheaper than getting a pre built one

CraigSnedeker 12-28-2011 08:38 AM

Don't have one! Did I mention I live in a town where the only local shops sell art, antiques, more antiques, and coffee? Oh, and might as well throw in another antique shop. I think there's about 4 of them.

TheRandom1 12-28-2011 10:00 AM

Man this looks like you had some fun. I'd be royally p***ed about a huge dent and scratch like that on mine! I don't mind little ones, but that's huge.

litterbug 01-07-2012 05:47 PM

i definatly remember seeing that d-shaft breakage on youtube before. lol. didnt realize it belonged to somebody on here lol. and when i saw that scrape on the zr2 i just put my hand over my mouth for the rest of the time reading. lol. i wouldnt mind that on one of my older trucks but not on a daily driver. lol. speaking of war wounds when i broke the rear glass on the 74 i took a sledge to the front fender that was already smashed in. lol. got some rage out. but then i had to move the truck so it wasnt such an eyesore anymore lol.

BlaziNator 02-15-2012 09:07 AM

Finally got the Blazinator dirty again! Although it was pretty tame and I didn't get any videos. I DID get a picture of it dirty. And with a bonus shot of my GF posing on the hood. So....there's that.

Now that things have settled down with my divorce and whatnot, I'm really hoping to hit the trails in the near future. Now that I have found the local mud hole in the new place I moved to, I think I'll at least be able to engage my 4x4 for more than the occasional freak snow storm.
