I think it was an option to have the aluminum ones. It came standard on ZR2's, but you should also add it to a regular Blazer if you wanted. I wish mine had one lol.

The one I got was the transfer case shield. Next time I go and get parts, I will have to look and see.

DUDE! Seriously?!!? you are both suggesting I get a new skid plate from this black composite plastic one!? LMAO!!! I think i will... in fact... I'll design and build one... right.... NOW
ROFL

as for the ZR2's, they are wider. the skid plates = wider. either way you would have to chop it up. the problem with the zr2 plates would be, the sides you trim in order to make it fit would be where the factory mounting points are. now you are left with a trimmed, unmountable plate, that you would still need to work on to make fir. you think I WANTED to fabricate something

I have my front plate, and the TC plate, all i need now is the tranny plate, which SHOULD be a direct bolt FTW.

So yeah, there isn't a curb or loading ramp safe from this mall crawler

i thought it was just the axles that were wider? i can't see them building a completely different truck, just for the limited amount of ZR2's that were made. although that would go far to explaining why they filed a Chapter 11.

and yes, we do think you wanted to show off your mad fab skillz!

as for the trans plate, good luck with that-never seen one. that's why i'm in the process of cutting the plate for my weak link.

"Mall Crawler".........almost makes you sound like one of those perv's cruising the parking lots.

I did a bit of research on the ZR2 models. Yes they were wider. But most of the extra width came in a wider rear end and longer control arms.

LMC truck shows 2 different part numbers on the skid plates. HMMM..

Ok since they are a bit different how about finding some from a Non-Zr2 truck. That's what I was trying to get at in the first place. I was not trying to start an argument.

I still think it would be neat if someone took the suspension from a donor ZR2 and built them a 4dr Blazer.

Wikipedia has a nice article on the ZR2 Models..

Hmm. I didn't know they were wider. That's cool. That probably explains why it is tough to find a lift kit for them. (or so I have heard)

The only difference in the ZR2 and non ZR2 skid plates is the front one. I just replaced 2 of my 3 that got lost or bent from an off road trip. Had to fix the front one, cause the other blazer I got them off of wasnt a Z.

what i was getting @ was in regards to the frame of the truck itself, 96Blazernut.

i was pretty sure it was just the suspension that made the difference, and since Logan actually owns one of each, maybe he can verify what the frames are like between the two of them?

i knew there was someone around here (that was active lately) that would be able to give up some info on this, but i just couldn't remember who.

Well I'm glad that's put to bed.

Now on to better things like lessons on parking lot divider crawling.
