i have a '00 4dr blazer and im tryin to put a 5" lift on it.
i was wondering how big of tires a could put on the stock rims?
im tryin to get the biggest size possible.
if you could help me out it would be very appreciated

 

I run LT235/75/15 on my 97 Blazer 4x4. I have been off-roading for over 45 years in the west. I have never in the hundreds of thousands of miles off roading understood lift kits & big tires on a stock type 4x4. I can assure you that you couldn't go into places we take our STOCK BLAZER with a 5" lift & BIG TIRES.
Why a 5" lift & Stock Rims??? In over 45 years I have never seen a lifted big tire 4x4 stock 4x4 go anyplace I couldn't go with a PURE STOCK 4x4. Four wheeling is about driving skill. I've been through the Rubicon in the 70s with a stock CJ.

I'll agree with you that a lift doesn't make for a better offroad vehicle...

but bigger tires do as they give you greater ground clearance. Thus the reason why folks put a lift on their vehicles.

Driving style does have a heck of a lot to do with offroading, but a more capable vehicle in the hands of a capable driver will do much more than a stock vehicle in the hands of a capable driver.

 

All I have to say is tire clearance. Being able to get more axle clearance does help expecially when it comes to bogging. But I also believe in proportion, 5 inches requires some decent size tires due to it being such a small tire. But anyways to answer your question, when purchasing a lift kit for your rig, it should tell you how big of tires are recommended. Of course with some trimming and mod's you can always go bigger.
