Here is another option for a "bolt on" plate. https://www.4wdfactory.com/store/pro...nch-Mount.html I had one of these a couple years ago and I liked it. I sold it because I couldn't use it with my SAS crossmember or it would likely still be on my truck. It is also nice because it has recovery points for the front built into it.

yeah i got a 9000lb on my trailer that is going on 6 years old and the one on my s10 about 4 years old. previous to these i had a warn. the only real difference was the warn was slightly faster.

i ended up finding a 9000lb one at harbor freight for $175 at their sidewalk sale. it was a open box and missing the remote which i didnt care cause i hard wired it to a switch inside the truck

ive been using the receiver style winches for a while and its awesome. i keep a really long pair of jumper cables too encase you have to move it to the back. and if you arent going offroad for a while you just pull the pin and store it out of the weather.

even used it one time on someone elses truck that was buried out in the woods as i didnt feel like dragging my truck way out there.

i dont know about newer s10s if you have the room but i had a 85 years ago i just got a old trailer hitch from a junkyard and welded it in between the frame rails

I have used one of those battery packs [that never gets used for anything else??] and it has had enough power to pull my silverado onto my trailer using my 40+ year old warn 8000........

I don't know how long the pack battery would last??........but that makes winching a lot more portable too :-)
