2000 ZR2 Fender Flare questionnaire
Hey everyone.
The fender flares on my ZR2 are looking weathered. Is there a way to paint them without it looking like a 4th grade science project? I have seen some people on the site with them in black.

use a product called "Back to Black" OR look at the DIY section for painting tips. It's not tough

If you go to paint them...
Take them off
Sand them with 800 grit sandpaper so you don't scratch the pastic
Apply 3 light coats of primer, 15 minutes between coats.
Wait 1 hour
Apply 3 light coats of your main paint color, 15 minutes between.
Wait 1 hour
Apply 3 light coats of clear, again, 15 inbetween.
Should look good if you took your time

Back to Black will not work on the flares as they are painted.
And the best way to paint them is as above, but MUCH easier to leave them on the fenders and tape everything else off. To remove the front flares correctly you have to remove the fender first.
If you want to paint them as close to the original color as possible, use Duplicolor's Specter Gray paint.
