back glass squeek 97-2001

ive had a 97 blazels 4x4,and now a 2001zr2.when driving the back glass will squeek aroud the latch.i does this to both blazers so im sure many or all of us have .anybody have suggestion to stop it .i thought about putting thin towel between the latch but looks bad.any body experience this ?and any ideas,thanks

This has been discussed a lot. Its a very common problem. First make sure everything is tight. You can also wrap some electrical tape around the metal catch. Its the constant metal on metal contact that makes the rattle.

See the link below on how I cured the back glass rattle on my 89 Jimmy. It has been over 2 and a half years and there is no squeak. The repair has held up very well. You might be able to do something simular in a 2nd Generation.

mine does the same i got new "shocks" and it fixed it but we might of had a different prolbem

+1 on that. This is what I did on my glass that was squeaking and was driving me nuts. Works like a charm!

The problem with the tape method is that it is only a temporary repair as the tape wears the rattle will come back.

I completely agree with you there on being temporary, but if it is like mine where enough tape is put on where it is a tight fit, but not too tight to where it is hard to get open and latched, then it should last a little longer. Plus it was just what I had laying around for fix that I remember reading about. Temporary, yes. Mine still going strong, yeah for now lol
