Believe it or not, I actually like the sandpaper texture of some bedliners. But right now, my problem will be prep work. I'm bad at taping stuff in a straight line ya know? lol. I mean taping the rocker panels to when you paint it and take off the tape, the bedliner is straight all the way across the rocker panels. Anybody have any tips for taping a straight line?

well, for a straight line, its pretty easy, you just need reference points to put the tape, like for instance, if you just want the rockers, use the bottom of the door as a reference point for the tape. once you find a good reference point, you are good to go.

Measure from a common point across the botton of the rockers. Use the same measurement & mark it with a pencil. How often you make a mark is up to you & how comfortable you are with the distance betweek marks.
Or get a cheap *** laser pen or level from a home hardware place & find some way of blocking it up, making a stand for it to sit on & use that as a straight edge guide.

you could always park on a level surface and borrow or buy a laser level

I just used the body lines of the truck to get my lines.

Now do you sand down, and primer all areas your gonna line? I assume it's the same prep process as painting the same areas?

@rexmburns I used the body lines on mine too. Bought a roll of painters tape and a bunch of newspaper and went to town. My project started because I pulled a bunch of paint off of the lower part of my door trying to remove some trim.
