Chrome Tow hooks?
So for awhile I have been looking for replacement tow hooks for the front of my blazer and couldnt really find anything. I didnt want to modify anything, I just wanted chrome or the hooks with a safety hinge on it. Basically just for looks as there just bolted to the front end, and I would use my tow hitch if ever stuck or what not. Because the aftermarket hooks an such where online I couldnt really check emm out, so some had measurements and all were to small, (not long enough to come out of the valence holes) so the other day I took mine off, and sanded them, cleaned emm, primed emm and painted the a dupli color chrome if I remember correctly. They look good and I am happy with them, I painted my tail light guards in the same fashion, but with painting plastic specifics and cleared them, the tail gaurds look awsome. The have been on the truck for more than a year and have no chips, fades or any imperfections.
My problem is that the hooks look awsome, they have 6 light coats and I wanted to clear them, or protect them. So like the guards i hit them with 2 light coats or Krayol I think crystal clear coat, said for metal, plastics, trim.... and after it dried it made the hooks very dull. The chrome paint before I sprayed the clear, was awsome for a $6 Chrome spary paint. So heres a pic, and I shot them again with the chrome and the shine came back, but any suggestions on a protectant that wont dull the shine. They looked like grayish, after they were cleared. Thanks in advance-
