has any one cleared stock tail lights is this similar to the way you clear stock head lights

 

Won't work. The clear tails were mainly made by APC and were/are illegal and put them out of business because they were molding them with fake DOT numbers and listing them as legal. The stock tails are molded from red plastic and the color can't be removed.
