I own a 2000 Blazer LS. 63,000 miles. Bought it 3 yrs ago. I havent had any problems with it. At all! I have made some upgrades with stereo system and the interior. Also a few on the exterior. Im attached to my Blazer. A week ago i was involved in a collision. I was tboned. Damages seem to be only to the passenger rear door. It is crushed in. The frame seems fine. Im not going to sell it to insurance company as part of my settlement from them. So i will be stuck with a salvage title until i get it repaired. Does anyone know how much it should cost me to have it replaced with same color door from a junk yard? Im a female and dont want to get duked. Thanks for any help yall can offer me.
To be perfect, it's going to need more than a door. There's some other body damage there. And it's hard to tell if a new door is going to line up correctly until you try it. The good news is, white is probably the most common color, so it should be easy enough to find one. If the door is the same and doesn't need a bunch of parts switched over, and it fits right, you shouldn't be looking at more than a few hundred bucks at a body shop.
Are you able to open the door and inspect the hinges? Is the front passenger door operational without a problem? As mentioned, you will also need some body work along the base of the door and wheel well.
Also have a very close look at those hinges on the B-pillar. Look for deformation around the hinge attachments.
Then check the front doors lock attachment, if it aligns properly and opens and closes without effort.
The same goes for the damaged door lock.
The crappy company of the guy who hit me wanted to total mine for $2500. I sent him all my research, local sales, Craigslist, NADA etc proving the car was worth $4,000 and the claims gut would not budge so I sent the info to his boss. I still only got $2,500 but by raising the value, they did not total it.
I don't think you can get any work done at a body shop for less than $1,000.
The door seems stuck so i was afraid to try and open it. But your right. I do need to check for damages to the hinges, etc. The front door seems to be operating fine. Insurance company is saying 3450 to repair. Claims adjuster that came to estimate damages didnt look under my truck or try to open either passenger side door Thier software program estimated local market value at 3995. Minus my 500 deductible & salvage retainer fee of 575. Wish i could afford legal help. Most of these insurance companies are a joke! Thanks to everyone for the helpful advice and info .
this thread is a few months old, that is NOT a total, take it to any competent body shop, ideally someone you know, if you do ever come back to this thread let me know if you want me to ask around, i live in Hillsborough and im not sure where Fruitland Park is.
