Default Custom Gauge's

Hey all.
I want to do some custom gages and get rid of thoes tacky stock ones in the
first gen. Not the digital dash....is there anything i can do?
and if so how do i manage without screwing with my Milage counter?

You could fab up a panel to put in place of the stock cluster and put in aftermarket round gauges, but hooking them up to the various sensors/signals may be a problem. Being that your truck is older it won't be anywhere near as difficult as a newer truck though. As far as the mileage goes, you can always file a deviation of mileage with your local DMV. So say you were to have the cluster go bad, requiring the installation of a new or used cluster with a different # of miles on the odometer, you would file with the DMV stating the true mileage, the indicated mileage, and the justification for the change.

You can get Autometer speedo's with the odometer in them as well as a host of other gauges, but you are going to want to see how the stock cluster is controlled. If it's all electronic, then you may have difficulties.

Mabey ill go check out some places i know and see if they can put in a custom cluster.
that way i dont screw anything up.
