Default Door latches on the frame

1997 Chevy Blazer 201k miles.
Weld experts read on, Where the door latches (not the door part) to the frame there is a 2 screwed loop. SOme reason the door would not close and I was trying to close it and I did not know I would mess up the frame part not the latch-loop thing. The latch-loop is fine but the frame part is tore. Can I get a welder to rebuild that area and set the loop in place? Is that part of the car to soft for welding?
I hope my issue was explained. For now I am using a bungie cord to hold me door close.

Should I go to a body shop? How much you think they will charge? I just wanted it welded, not painted.
Thanks all!

Mine did that. I just took the pillar cover off, stuck a crowbar in there and bent it back into place. That was 3 months ago and its still working fine so no welds required...yet.

I would feel more comfortable with it welded back into place. A body shop could definitely do the work, but you may want to have a look around for a general fab shop as they may do a better job of structurally repairing the area and would likely be cheaper.

My friend had the same problem on his 91 Jimmy... only it decided to not latch any more while we were in the process of doing some doughnuts. He just took it up the the junk yard, where we are like family, and had it welded. It worked fine after that. I also noticed that mine was doing that a few months ago, and now the front driver's door is set in about 3/8th of an inch.

I think I will have it welded, the metal is tore, plus I tried to pull it up and it push back in. Thanks for all the comments!

Just make sure it is pulled back into the correct position when you weld it.
