Gauge cluster with tach for '96 Blazer
#11
yup pulled it from a 95...... I did have to take the needles off in order to reset the odometer to my correct mileage.... i have tired manually adjusting the needles but they still move awkwardly, not smooth at all
#12
Well I didn't do any disassembly of the cluster...just dropped it in and it worked. Maybe the cluster is defective?

Ok so i took it out for a spin with the front plastic off, manually removed the needles and zeroed them, the speedo and Tach now work as well was the volts. I am going to get a fill up tomorrow to set the fuel needle. Any ideas on how to test the oil pressure and engine temp?

Key on, engine off, with the engine cold, wait for 15-20 seconds, then all needles should be at zero for the gauge. The only other method would be with a capable scan tool.

Saw that doing that came up on a Google search, i tried it once but i believe i screwed it up somehow going to try again in the morning.....

The best approach is to snap a picture of the cluster with the key on, engine off, & engine cold. This will give you the baseline needle locations. Live and learn. You'll get them right sooner or later!

Mike, I just converted mine over today. I was tachless for the longest time and then found a good one in the yard and went home and put it in. Looks good. I have a pic up in the "what did you do to your blazer today?" thread lol.

did you change the mileage ? i saw they were crossed out
it looks great tho =)

.
Thanks lol . I'm just glad it's finally in.
And as of right now, no I haven't changed the mileage. I know that's pretty illegal lol, but I don't plan on selling the blaze anytime soon. I'll eventually change it.
But i'm keeping up with the mileage by doing some calculations. I gotta make sure I don't miss an oil change because of the mileage difference haha.
