Help, Accident.

I made a mistake with what I was scrubbing with during debadging the rear tailgate on my '02 blazer. I used a green scrubber thing, and I think I scratched up the clearcoat pretty bad, at least I think it was the clearcoat, I haven't been able to see it in daylight to see how bad it is, but do any of you think there is anything I can do about this? I didn't use the green scrubber for too long because I started to notice it was hurting the paint.

depends on the damage you did and how deep it went.
you could try some 1000 grit and wetsand the area...not sure.
its just what i would try...not a paint/body guy.
others will weigh in.

It all depends on how bad the scratches are, like Warthogdriver said.
If you happen to know anybody who has a buffer and knows how to use it, you can try that method as well.

Try some rubbing compound and then polishing compound, as long as there is some clear coat left. You can do this by hand or using a buffer.
If you got down to the paint, you need to get some clear coat back on there. I would guess you just scuffed up the clear coat, though.

wet sand it with 1000 than 2000 grit sand paper, then use meguiars scratch X 2.0, then follow up with some polishing compound.. I must warn you, that part of your paint might end up looking better than the rest making you want to do that to the rest of your ride. Good luck

My dad used WD-40 and Meguiar's wax made it look way better.
