Default Hood Paint Pealing Off

The clear coat on the paint on my hood is coming off and its pretty much all off at this point, there is a strip on the middle left and its slowly coming off, so as it peals i have been scraping it off. Is there any way i can make it come off faster without damaging the paint under it, it would look better without the pealing clear coat.

you could use a dual action sander and some 600 sandpaper

VERY carefully with a sharp (NEW) Razor blade, you can at the right angle scrape the clear off the hood without ruining the paint !!! LIke i said in the beginning VERY carefully... once thats all off and you didnt scrape the paint, wet sand the hood with 1000 or 2000 grit using wetsanding paper, get a rubber squeegee they sell them at auto part stores, use plenty of water and dont lean to hard on the paper while your doing it keep the hood and paper wet, when your wetsanding the hood you`ll notice the water will turn the color of your paint keep squeegeeing off the water from where you are sanding look to see that theres no (orange peel) thats a tech term in the auto body field.. when your all done sanding take the truck or just your hood to an autobody shop and have them reclear the hood... I dont see any problems with it after that... If your interested in coming to NY to have it done just holler.. I can do that at the shop where i work..

without clear on top of the paint , you`ll be repainting the hood real soon..... the heat alone will destroy the paint along with acid rain fall,Dont wait to have it recleared, you`ll be sorry in the long run...
