Default loud popping noise

okay well today im driving down a straight road at about 40 mph, in 4th gear, and i hear this loud pop, or snapping noise from my passenger side front. i pulled over and checked all around and couldnt see anything. usually if im turning at full lock it will pop repeatedly but never as loud as this time. and this time it was one single pop. the truck didnt seem to drive any differently. anyone got any ideas?

Default found out what happened

so i posted a thread on a loud popping noise the other day, turns out that loud pop i heard at 3am was a rock that was thrown at my truck. it hit right in the door frame. really sucks. but luckily we are friends with the best body man in jefferson county, and he told me what to do. he is too busy to prep it but will paint it for me. this is my first time doing body work but this is what he told me to do.
tape off at the pinstripe, and sand the door frame with 1000 grit (since i have a clear coat problem also on the same door), grind the dent, spread in some filler, and sand with 400-1000 grit until it is completely smooth, then primer the whole door frame, and he will paint it.
any advice when im doing this?
