Default need to paint a hood

Ive been looking for toss on a new hood for my 97 blazer. I think i wanna go with the camero SS hood. I ve seen it on others and like that way it looks over some of the ram airs and cowl inductions. I called maaco today and they wanted 250 for just to paint the hood and for it to match well they wanted to paint the fenders and hood for 350. I know that if i paint they hood w/ the exact color code it wont match due to fading. Does any one knowwhat is a good price(Im new to painting). or if any one knows of a good place. I live about 30 min south of Philly, PA. If there any places around there that are worth calling that would be awesome.
Thanks guys

Default RE: need to paint a hood

Well first off, maaco is a cheap in and out the same day I'm selling my '89Ford Tempo kinda paint job place. I wouldn't even tell someone I hate to get a paint job there. If you want it to match, even due to fading then a professional shop is the place to go. Look for shops that specialize in custom work, have a towing operation, and have been in business for many years. Reason being is: A. A shop that specializes in custom work will be able to easily match your color. B. A shop with a towing operation makes good money. So they won't be skimping out on the products they use on your vehicle, since they can afford the good stuff.C.A shop that has been in business for a long time can be attributed to good work, fair prices, and word of mouth from its customers.

This is gonna go on your truck, that you have to drive. If your gonna spend that much to get a sweet SS hood like that, then don't get cheap on the paint. Call up a couple shops from your local phone book, ask them some questions like: How long they have been in business, how much custom body and paint work they have done, how close can they match colors, what kind of paint they use (i.e. what brand), do they do towing, is there towing service in rotation with the city or county(usually means they are trustworthy as a business). You just gotta ask some questions and for your own sake don't go cheap!

BTW, a good price here in Texas for that type of job would be around $400 for your average GM colors. Mind you that is a10 yearto lifetimewarranty on the paint depending on who you go with (provided you take care of it, and they can tell if you haven't).
