Are you putting on a new pan? Without having the pan out to clean all the oil off I think it will be jut about impossible to get any kind of paint to really stick! I jut don't see it possible o get it clean enough while still under the truck. Why do you want to paint the pan just curious?

Yes, New Pan installing in next couple days.
Just thinking some added paint or other for protection purposes.

So you have the motor out? I would say use a high temp paint so it doesn't burn off from heat. You can find that in tons of colors nowadays

Default Long Block

Installing the Oil Pan with the Engine Installed - ( The Hard Way ! ).
I have left myself ( a way out ) the option of removing the Engine
to complete , if needed.

So far it is time consuming, but appears it will come together.

The Oil Pan I purchased had twice the thickness on the front side than the original - I almost got in. Compared two pans a second time, and their is quite a bit of size difference.
Crazy Me !
Hopefully, my second aftermarket pan will slip it like butter.
