Cool, this actually helped out quite a bit.
I kind of figured I had to sand it.
What brand of paint does anyone suggest for a plastic paint? I used krylon fusion before with good results, but just wanted to know what else is out there. I also want to know a good clear, too.

I used Krylon Fusion on my dash and it's held up great so far and looks very nice.

Ive used fusion primer after a good cleaning with acetone to prep all my interior parts for paint, then used chunky boxliner stuff then used Automotive clearcoat in matte and gloss depending on the part. It stays on great and is flexible and Ive even dropped a part and it didnt chip. The boxliner is on just thick enough to cover the white primer on most parts. When I boxliner the exterior parts I dont prime them, I sand and clean with acetone then spray it on nice and thick in many coats, then used gloss clearcoat, not much, just enough to add a shine.

I've posted a couple of times to guys wanting to paint their interior stuff. Just not going throught the whole process again here. I have had both excellent and bad results. If you want to view my posts you can search for them or PM me. Some guys don't like to paint plastic. There's a right way and a wrong way to do it and believe me I've experienced both. The last one was excellent. Looks factory after I put a 97 center console in my 94 Blazer. Definately going to redo the 84 Jimmy the sane way. The stuff ain't coming off.

I've used Krylon paint and SEM paint. One would chip off and wear off (krylon). That SEM paint is serious

I also used the Krylon paint for plastic. All i did was take the pieces out, give them a good sanding and cleaning and hit 'em with the paint.

If you want the grain to show (which I did), don't sand. Clean it real well with some silicone & wax remover (I used the Duplicolor one wet and did it twice). Then come in with some Bullydog adhesion promotor - two light to medium coats and let it flash for about ten minutes between coats and then topcoat it within about 15 minutes. I put three light coats on using Duplicolor Plastic and Vinyl paint to match the interior color already in the truck. It was a little too glossy for me so I hit it with two light coats of Minwax polyurethane satin finish. Looks factory. There's a picture of it on the Ride of the Month for July if you want to see what it looks like. The rest of the truck is no showstopper (yet) but the interior looks good.

Thanks, lol.
Yeah, I'm thinking about going glossy on mine, instead of showing grain, but I just feel doing white in a black interior would work better as a gloss. Thanks again for the help, everyone!
