I am sure someone on here has done this, but I need to paint the plastic rear window trim on my 02 Blazer. What is the best method to seal them and smooth out the rough texture? It has obviously been kept outside previous to my purchase.

Well, to smooth out the rough texture, you can either sand it, or you can get a high build primer and then sand between coats on that. But since it is plastic, You will need an adhesion promoter before you lay down any paint, or it will come off in no time.

 

Search really does work if you know how to use it. Heck, there is even a tech article on this very topic.

 

i have the same problem, and have trim in great shape from another blazer, can anyone tell me how to actually remove those back windows?

its much easier for me to remove and replace the entire trim and window than to tape off, fill, sand, primer, sand and paint. how in the hell to i get em off of there lol

 

Again, to what swart said, use the search feature. I posted this a couple weeks ago on a quick repair to the rear window trim. Would'a/should'a popped up at the top of the search results.

As for taking it off and replacing it, your looking at hundreds of dollars as the trim is connected to that rear window... So unless you wanna replace the entire window for the trim's sake, it looks like you're stuck painting it.
