I have 98 GMC Jimmy and i want to repaint the grille emblem. I was wondering if it's removable or if i have to cover everything and paint it while it's on the grille.

 

If its anything like my 05 you can pull the grille straight out and then theres a few nuts on the back of the emblem letters.

 

my 97 where the hood latch is theres that black plastic that you take the two clips out (on the radiator support) and give it a tug up and comes off and you can get the emblem off without removing the whole grill

i think its the same on the 98's but im not positive

 

I got the front one taken off,,,is there anyway to take the one's on the front passenger and driver doors? and the one on the back hatch? i want to paint them black because i don't like the red haha.

 

also on the front emblem do you think a black out line and a green emblem would look better or a green outline black emblem? My suv is the tan/silver color

 

The doors and rear tailgate are tapped on, they can come off with a heat gun and some persistance, I took mine off then used goo gone to remove the tape left on the doors but never put them back on. It is possible to put them back on with some more double sided tape after you paint them. As for the green on the emblem thats personal choice, I wouldn't like it but thats just me.
