Repair on the Cheap..
#1
Ok so I thought I would share my Cheapy Bumper repair with the Group..
I'm sure a few may have seen my posts with questions and my frustrations in other areas. I figgured I would wrap it up in one place for any that may be interested..

I brought this Jimmy from a used car guy in town.. I knew it would be a bit of a headache to 'Make it Right' but we needed a functioning vehicle that will get her from Point A to B quite a bit.. Her driving is going to increase and the Jimmy was so well taken care of (other wise) We decided to jump on a 'Good Deal'..

After the initial quick look around the internet that didn't give any results.. I soon realized that I was not going to be able to find a cheap pull off end part for her bumper.. A post on the forums and a couple of replies later, I found out the exact match was not going to be cheap as the only place that has an exact match was LMC Truck.. (Thanks for the info Swart)
A bunch of calls and a visit to the Pick N Pull web site led me to this heap..

It was a gamble as it was sight unseen.. but was the right year.. So I made the 100+ mile drive to Dallas.. It took a while to find in the Yard (since I was looking for a mostly complete Jimmy), but sure enuff, it was there.. It just happened to be beat to heck and picked over..

I paid my $28 and drug it back home..
I figured I could get the local body guy that the used car dealer sent me to.. to smooth it over and spray it down.. LOL.. ya right..
Every body shop in town either refused to even give me a price, or just outright over inflated it just to avoid having me say OK..
By this point my wife was getting tired of getting weird looks at red lights.. and having the "it was there when I got it" conversation..
I decided my only option was to get after it myself..
A trip to autozone, $45 and a weekend of Scraping, sanding and spraying Left me with this..

Bottom line..
It didn't turn out as good as I would expect it too (especially if I paid a body guy).. But it was also under $100 (plus fuel to DFW)..
I still have a big dent to get fixed at some other point.. But that will come when I get another job and we get back on the right path..
Thanks to everyone for their input on my little learning experience..
