Alright before i lay it out let me state that one im newly married and two my current job doesnt pay crap so all my mods and work are either cheap,long saved up for or done with stuff i have laying around.

Alright so i really want a Roof Basket on my truck one of the ones that stretches from front to back for three reason 1.They look good 2. To mount some small off road lights to and finally 3. Some were to put my tent and sleeping bags whenn i go camping.
Now the problem! Those things cost up into the hundreds and i dont have that right now to spare, so ive been looking up ideas on home to make homemade ones and i ran across one on youtube that a kid built out of 1 1/2" PVC pipe and painted it and it actually looked good! I already know what some of you are gonna say "that thing wont hold any kind of weight or the sun will eventually break the pvc down and make it brital" , well its not gonna be holding anything except some lights and a tent and sleeping bags for the ride to the campgrounds and far as the durability factor i thought about coating the pipes in a hardening resin and then paint them with rhino liner! So my question is do you guys think that would work,whats your opinions on what you would do and what kind of off road lights do you recommened?

If jobs were that easy to come by i would but uea this day and economy you stick to what you have.
