I would stay away from the pvc idea! For one like you said it will be very weak. You really couldn't secure anything properly with it cause if you tighten it down the pvc with break and if you don't tighten it enough well then your gonna need a new tent and whatever else you put up there. Its also really not cost effective if you figure out everything you will need. In the picture you posted without the lights there are approximatley 44 junctions and then all of the straight tube. I haven't looked up cost on them but lets say they are $2ea. Thats $88 plus the straight pieces lets say another $20-25 plus glue and paint $15. Thats just a rough estimate but thats still around $120-130. I would say stay patient and keep searching everyday and you will find something Ive read good things about the Harbor Freight lights so for the money they are good to go! I have Procomp lights on my truck and I love them. I paid (well my wife paid) $120 for the 5 I have on my truck so arguably they are still a cheap light compared to say a KC or Hella light.

SportRack brand (Thule's economically challenged line) with 1 extension. I think there was like 150ish invested at the time when it was purchased (in 2 separate purchases as funds allowed. base basket then the extension later. Actually looked fine with just the base basket on the 4runner we had before the Blazer, just a little cramped with a tire in it). Not sure what prices are at now bu tit's held up well now being on it's 2nd truck

Mimes a 2 door so the stock rails are moved back and a little shorter so idk if i should just put the regular basket on there or put a basket and exstention so it comes out more towards the front of the roof. I just dont want it to sit back to far and look goofy

Looks like you may have to buy other roof rack parts to mount it to. Save for a week or 2 and get one like ours, comes with all hardware and mounts to existing roof cross bars
