Default Side trim removal

Hey guys I'm new here and I have a 2000 gmc jimmy Slt and it has the gold molding around the whole car including the bumpers. Are there any tips or ways to remove it? Or anything you guys would suggest? Thanks

I don't know if I entirely understand that gold molding but it sounds similar to the chrome and the molding that ran down the driver and passenger sides. For this, I took mineral spirits, some fishing line, and either a heat gun or a hair dryer. Something that has heat coming out of it. I cleaned up around the molding first with mineral spirits then took the heat gun and applied direct heat to the molding. Hold pretty close to the molding but not for long, then stick some fishing line behind the molding, wedge it in there. Then work the fishing line in a saw fashion. Go back and forth working it. Then apply heat to the next section and repeat. Once all done, clean very well with mineral spirits. This should fit the bill. Try not to tug on it too much or pull with excessive force because this can cause paint chipping. Just my .02. Hope I'm talking about the right molding.

Also, caution, the molding on the bumpers isn't meant to come off. You will leave holes in your bumpers if you try to take it off. You can always get these filled with something, but this is a caution of what might happen.

Well the molding I have is like raised up about one inch, and it's gold, I'll take a look at it tomorrow, but one more question, can I sand my front bumper and repaint it? I don't know because it is plastic, and can I do the same to the rear bumper aswell? Thanks

Okay, disregard what I said above. I thought you meant something else. But your best option is to paint it imo. Like you said above, sand it down, prime it, then paint it. Many guys on here have painted there lower part either black or bedlinered it black to make a 2-tone appearance. It looked good on their trucks if you end up giving that a try.

Before that, can you snap a pic somehow? It would really help us out. Snap pictures of the cracks too if you can.
