Stuck T50 bolt on driver seat
I'm dealing with a stuck T50 bolt on the driver seat. Tried taking both seats out in my 2002 2DR to do some carpet cleaning, and this thing broke two bits trying to loosen it with my impact drill, air wrench, and 2ft long standard wrench. How the heck do I get this bolt out? The driver seat might as well be riveted in place.
I used wd40, vice grips, and a steel 1"×1" steel tube as a breaker bar to break it loose, then a socket wrench with the t50 socket. If you strip it, try hammering an old Allen key socket in, I've done that too...
I've dealt with these more than anyone would like to.
They came from the factory with loctite on the bolt's threads. Try pounding it with a big **** hammer/mallet, or maybe some heat from the bottom side. If it's "tore up" or stripped too bad, weld a nut onto the top of it.
Edit: Definitely lubricant!

I can relate Jensen, I think at this point in time I've had 5 difference sets of seats in my 04 lol
The "smacking it on the head with a hammer" trick has always worked great for me. A couple good blows straight down onto it is usually all it takes to make the bolt release it's grip. Then I just stick my torx on a small breaker bar to get it started, then move to a ratchet to get it the rest of the way out.
If they do have loctite, I use a good soldering iron and hold it on the head of the offending bolt. The heat will transfer the length of the bolt and soften the loctite. It puts out enough heat to get the job done with out damage to anything else.
