Question concerning clear coats...
I seem to be getting vague and varying answers to this question at the GM dealerships. I did some touch up work last summer using paint I bought from the dealer. This is genuine GM Goodwrech paint. I asked the guy if I needed to apply clear coat and his response was "its already in the paint." I'm starting to notice that the spots I touched up are starting to look a little dull. Of the three GM dealers in my area I get every answer from "its in the paint" to "only use clear for large areas". Can someone please clarify this for me? I'm afraid that if I do use clear and the original paint job didn't have it its going to really stand out. Also, are clear finishes similar to regular paint / polyurethane ie gloss, semi gloss, satin etc. If so, how do I know which to use? I have very little body work experience so go easy on me ! Thanks for the help.
