Default Tow Hitch questions.

I went to the local junkyard and the man told me $10 for a trailer hitch if i took it off. I found 3 blazers with them and was wondering the procedure for removing one? I noticed around size 14 bolts (two on each side of the hitch). Are those the only ones? just some help would be nice, as im going to pick it up tomorrow

The one on my 87 bolts to the side of the frame and has about 12 (6 per side) bolts. Its the same bolts that hold the bumper on so don't let that fall on ya when you start trying to get the hitch out. It also helps to use a jack to kinda hold the hitch while you take the bolts off. The thing is heavy as crap if your doing it alone.

It depends if it's a factory hitch or aftermarket. The Drawtite I have uses 3 bolts per side. The factory ones have specific bumper mounts that replace the non hitch ones. Unbolt the bumper and then unbolt the hitch. I'm not sure where all the bolts are as I haven't had mine fully apart yet.
