NEED HELP Chevy Blazer S10
I have an 86 S10 Blazer 4WD Standard and it does not have the origional motor, It's a six cylinder and I don't know much about vehicles but it's par on performance and I need help figuring out what I can do to make it perform better. I'm on a very slim budget so a new motor is out of the question, it's my only form of transportation. I'm new and specifically opened this account so I could get some answers so I don't know exactly how this works.
I'll be greatly appreciative.

How do you know its not the original engine? S10s and blazers had had the option of a v6 since 1983. The earlier ones it wasn't uncommon to find them with L4s but by 86 it was kinda rare to not have a v6.

thanks for the reply i dont know i bought it from some college students who said its a used v6 cause the original blew and when i got it i had to put it in 4L and rev it high just to get it to move so i got it running but rough and from there i dont know anymore of what to do to make it run better

Well being an 86 unless somebody swapped something different in and it was a factory v6 it has a 2.8.
Now as for making it run better it just depends on how your mechanical knowledge is. There are all kinds of hop ups you can do but very few of them are simple bolt ons.

i can do some mechanic work I've changed out the CV axel's , lower factory ball joints, smog pump the stering hozes soon to be steering pump and exhaust o2 sensor but im lost as to what to do to help the performance because no one i know will help me they don't have faith in my blazer they all tell me to scrap it, but they're not mechanics. it is a 2.8 liter V6 it's 4wd standard/manual. I just refuse to give up on it it's gotten me where i needed to go now it's my turn to "repay" in a sense. Everything on it is in near perfect condition it's just running crappy.

The links at the bottom of the page might help. I know your against an engine swap but the 3.4 is about the best bang for the buck in a 2.8 s-series.
