Default Corning Museum of Glass

To round out the reporting from my latest vacation...

One morning we woke up to rain outside so we decided to make the trip from Watkins Glen to Corning to go visit the Corning Museum of Glass. If you are ever in the area, try to plan some time to see this place. There are a lot of amazing works of art as well as informative exhibits on display.

One of our first stops was to the glass blowing seminar. We signed Kaleb & Gavin up to make glass ornaments. Kaleb did all of the work himself while Nicky had to help Gavin with his.

Wow that is awesome, so they let you make your own ornament?

I think it was $25 each. You basically get to design the ornament and then blow the glass. The folks working there do the rest.

One thing is for sure with these ornaments, I'm going to have to find a pretty stout tree to hang these on from now on! They're heavy!!

Thats a pretty cool deal, but I bet you will I went to a hand blown glass shop down in Missouri and they were very heavy but I tell ya that hand blown glass is like the coolest ornaments.

Great stuff Kyle. Amazing the way these guys create stuff. They make it look so easy to do. Also great for the kids, from here on they'll have a greater appreciation for glass ornaments around the home - hopefully! LOL
