'02 Rear End Suspension
I've had my ZR2 since 2002 and have pulled a trailer on the weekends with band gear. About 350 tongue weight. Regardless, the rear end always appeared to set lower, even when I bought it. I'm thinking the rear shocks have seen their better days but not sure (how do you know?). Is the rear end setting lower an inherent aspect of the vehicle? Is there anyway to correct it? Thanks!
the sagging rear is a fairly common issue with the 2 doors, i highly doubt your shocks are bad(unless your ride is bouncy or feels like your driving a boat) the common soultion to this problem would be an add a leaf as previosuly mentioned(less expensive) or a whole new leaf spring pack which will be expensive but IMO is a better route to go.

Shocks have nothing to do with suspension height. You can remove them and the height would not change. That is controlled by the springs. To see if they are worn out, push down hard on the bumper about 3 times and release. The vehicle should stop bouncing after no more than twice.

My '02 2dr. sags too. I got 2" blocks that fit between the leafs & diff. When I put them in & then give the T-Bars a 3/4"-1" twist (& a trip for a 4 wheel alignment) it'll sit with a bit of a rake forward to it. Should be very nice & under $100 for the blocks!
do you plan on lowering your blazer?? unless youve done a spring over axle swap the blocks will lower the rear of your blazer if you want to lift the rear youll have to either get shackles, aal, or new leaf springs.
Yeah, sorry guys. I know its been a few months since this post was active, but I have the same problem described. My 2001 blazer is sagging pretty poorly in the rear. My shocks are good as the truck recovers pretty quickly. My leaf springs are flat and i'm almost down to the bump stops.
What would you guys recommend?
1) Replace leaf springs (wouldn't they just sag again soon)
2) Add-a-leaf
3) Helwig Helper Spring
4) Helper Air bags
I'm thinking that (1) is probably the GM recommended solution. (2) would be nice because I'd like a little more capacity anyway as I always have stereo equipment in back. (3) really no comment because i've been told this is a way to add capacity and not fix my problem. (4) my favorite i think. Air bags would allow me to air up when towing and air down a little for just normal driving.
Thanks!!!!

You can have your current leaf springs re-arched. There is a pretty good shop close by to me that does them for fairly cheap (a lot less than a new set costs).
I would either install new springs or re-arch your current springs first, then either add a set of load adjusting shocks (either coil overs or the Monroe air shocks) that will help support heavier loads. Add-a-leafs will raise the back end up, but will not really correct the problem at hand and probably will make your truck ride worse.
