1985 K5 rear diff. issues
I have a Gu4 3.08 rear end my retaining bolt was sheared off and I can't get the pinion shaft to come out. I have removed the broken part of the pinion retaining bolt. any ideas...I have tried heat, hammer and drift pin, I just can't get the pinion shaft out.

that stupid bolt has broken on every chevy i ever owned. i take it you got the threaded part out but the tip is still stuck in the hole.
surprisingly ive had great luck with just getting in there with a pick and unthreading it out. its nice and lubed up and under no tension it can usually be spun out of there very easily

that giant pin that runs through the spider gears itself is stuck?
i only had that happen once due to that little bolt braking, the pin slid out and banged on the pinion for a while causing it to bend. it was on the front axle so i just smashed it back in with a hammer and welded. but yeah if you go that little bolt and tip out that should just slide out.
only bright side i guess is these axles are pretty cheap and easy to find.
that little bolt shown in the middle, you got that entire thing out? and the big chrome one on the bottom is what is stuck?
