2.8 and 4.3 trannys??

Default 2.8 and 4.3 trannys??

do they intercahnge can i put a 2.8 4x4 tranny in my 4.3 2wd and it bolt up i am converting it to 4wd i am about to get some stright axles off a k5 4wd so i was wondering since i had the 2.8 tranny sitting in the yard if it would bolt up

Default RE: 2.8 and 4.3 trannys??

No. The 2.8L is a 60* V6 while the 4.3L is a 90* V6. The bell housings are different. Any v8 transmission from around the same timeframe as you are looking at will bolt up to a 4.3L.

although any v-8 trans will work, i'd look for a 700r4/ transfer case combo. the 700r4 has a lower 1st gear than a turbo350. if you're looking to go with full size axles, and run big tires, unless you are going to run 4.56 -4.88 gears the lower 1st gear in the 700r4 works much better. i'm running a 4.3 700r4 in my s-10 blazer with 35's and 3.42 gears.
