Default 2000 blazer zr2 stiff suspension

Hi,

My zr2 is extremely loud when going over bumps. It's not the front end necessarily but the interior shakes like crazy and is very loud. Is there anything that would cause this? Like bad shocks or anything? It doesn't bounce around like it has blown shocks. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Kevin

Can you describe it better? Is it a loud clunk? There are a couple of possibilities I'm thinking of that have nothing to do with the front end/suspension but need a little more clarification as to the noise and if you "feel" it, too.

I dont really feel it in through the steering wheel but the entire car shakes. It takes the bumps really hard and slams around. The interior creaks going over bumps. The front end itself doesn't seem to be the problem. It sounds like the interior is going to fall apart when I go over a big bump.

These vehicle are very loud by nature. The obvious thing that comes to my mind is the ball joints. The Blazer has a heavy front end so you may not notice the vibration in the steering wheel or column. How long have you onwed the vehicle?

Torsion bar cross member bushings would be my first guess, second would be your hood latches. Do a search and you should be able to find them pretty easy as both have been discussed.

I have had this car about a month hahaha. I bought it from some old people down in CT. I had the ball joints checked out and they are very bad. The right side is insanely loose. The car has 117000 miles on it but it runs great. Do the stock tires make some noise at like 40 mph or could it be wheel bearings? It's a low hum sort of but it sounds like the tires are making the noise. They are brand new so the tread might be gripping hard.

Bearings, and they will seiz up without warning. I had to replace left and right side at same time. You cant pack em like the old ones, you have to buy the whole Hub, about 120.00 per side, easy self fix, maybe 1hr. Haynes describes it well. If you need a brake job, its the best time to do it while you have em off
