2002 electronic 4x4 switch problem
hey all!
My girlfriend has a 2002 Blazer, V8, 120k miles with the 4x4 selector switch on the dash. About a month and a half or so ago, she put it in 4 HI, and she couldn't get it back into 2 wheel drive. The light still lit up the 4 HI button, but it wouldn't switch. I read in the forums that it was most likely the switch assembly. I went to my local auto parts store, replaced the switch, and it VOILA! it went back into 2 wheel without any problems. I took a short drive switching it back and forth to make sure it worked. I put it back in 2WD and that's where it's been until this morning. When she got it, it wouldn't switch to 4WD. It seems like it's the same thing as before. The light next to 2HI lights up, but it wont switch into anything else.
Is it possible that I just got a bad switch? When I went in to the parts store the first time, the guy behind the counter said they sell a lot of them, and that they go bad. Is there something else that comes to mind that it might be? Any thoughts would be appreciated, and I'll make sure that if it gets fixed, any brownie points I would have gotten will go to the deserving party... lol
